Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks was a African-American Civil Rights Activist. She is very well known for starting the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
Rosa Parks was arrested for not giving up her seat to a white man on the bus. She was then arrested and then charged $14 (which today is around $123).
Rosa didn’t give up her seat on the bus not because she was tired, but because she was tired of getting pushed around and not getting treated equally.
Rosa was called by the United State congress as “the first lady of civil rights” and “the mother of the freedom movement”.
Rosa Parks was fearless enough to stand up for herself and other African-Americans in the United States. She didn’t feel angry or scared when she was arrested, and she knew what she was doing was right because “You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right” (Rosa Parks).
Rosa standing up was the was also the very first act of the American Civil Rights Movement - that’s what makes what she did a triumph.
